Our History
ESTRATEGIA BJJSA was established in 2017 from humble beginnings and have been successfully growing ever since. Under the guidance of Professor Garth, we offer several different classes that caters for everyone at any level. No previous experience needed.
Classes include: Senior and junior classes, competition classes, self defense, kids bully proof and a ladies only class in our private section. Private one on one sessions available on request.
Situated in Lansdowne, at FITNESS REVOLUTION, we offer a safe and friendly environment in which to train. Experienced and friendly coaches will help you reach your potential.
We also have a strong competition team (both seniors and juniors) that have many years of competition experience amongst them. Unlock your true potential - your future self will thank you!

Our Family
APPAREL
In partnership with RESPEITO we import Gold Weave - 350/gms Gis (Kimonos) from Pakistan. Our kimonos come fully branded and are made of 100% cotton material. All the kimonos are preshrunk and range in various sizes, from kids to adults, to a ladies cut. ESTRATEGIA BJJSA Academy uses 3 different colour variation kimonos, i.e. white (with black embroidery) for the Junior Team, black (with white embroidery) for the Adult Team and a black (with pink embroidery) for the Ladies Only Team.
Our sublimation rash vests come in different colours, based on your belt colour, a black and pink rash vest for the Ladies Only Team to a plain white rash vest for the Junior Team. Your size is guaranteed.
We also support local businesses with our apparel as we are very much proudly South African. A special supporters t-shirt and vests are available for leisure wear or to sport at competitions.
Bags are canvas drawstring quality and you can chose your own personalized design.
Other products include stickers, bumper stickers, mugs, coasters and mouse pads.
COMMUNITY
FITNESS REVOLUTION
ESTRATEGIA BJJSA and FITNESS REVOLUTION have been training together for a few years. Professor Garth and Kru Mujahied met back in 2019 and the rest, as they say, is history. Both coaches share the same vision of exposing the community to the respective arts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. They work relentlessly on molding their students to be the best of what they can be. Unlocking potential never imagined before. At the same time creating an amazing "family" type atmosphere.
FITNESS REVOLUTION has created a professional , safe and friendly environment at which to come and train. We boast two training areas, a main section and a private section for our Ladies Only classes. A 5m x 5m boxing ring, free Wi-Fi, a functional shop and coffee shop with a social lounge area. Gym equipment and surveillance cameras to keep you safe and for peace of mind.
FITNESS REVOLUTION is based at 468 Imam Haron Road, Lansdowne. Just opposite Osmans.

GRADING
ESTRATEGIA BJJSA follows the IBJJF Grading System. This is based on our Senior and Junior syllabuses. Grading happens throughout the year and class attendance is crucial.
LADIES ONLY
ESTRATEGIA BJJSA launched a Ladies Only Class class in 2022 with the idea of inviting some of the mothers to get active while their kids train. It has taken off and become quite popular. This class is separate from the rest of the academy and is conducted behind closed doors. Classes are conducted by our two professional and friendly female coaches.
Classes are conducted at a different pace and is structured to accommodate everyone. You do not need to be super fit or flexible to attend this class..... all you need to do is just show up. You will end up pleasantly suprised at what you can achieve in just a few months. Guaranteed confidence booster and loads of fun.

SELF DEFENSE and GBV
ESTRATEGIA BJJSA has been involved in a few corporate projects and workshops involving Gender Based Violence (GBV) and self-defense. We pride ourselves as advocates against GBV and bullying. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was originally designed as a form of self-defense in the streets of Brazil before it was adapted as a sport. With that said, it is arguably the most practical form of self-defense around.
Previous clients include The Vineyard Hotel, Lasec SA, True North workshops in Lidudno, MANCOSA (JHB, PTA and CPT), VISION Child and Youth Care Centre.

FIGHT NIGHTS
FITNESS REVOLUTION hosts regular Fight Nights to showcase off the talent that we are developing. These events are very well run and extremely well supported. Tickets are usually sold out in a matter of days and is always something to look forward to. Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing and K1 Fights are on display and proves to be very entertaining.
It is definitely a community event and something not to miss out on!
JUNIOR IN-HOUSE COMPETITIONS
ESTRATEGIA BJJSA hosted our first Junior In-House Competition in 2023 at FITNESS REVOLUTION and what an amazing event it turned out to be. It was designed to give our junior students that have never competed at major tournaments before, that tournament experience. The atmosphere was electric! It was also structured and run according to international competitions standards, and was a major success.
Due to popular demand we will be running Junior In-House events twice a year, with the idea of grooming some future competitors.
